Have you looked into the eyes of the person you are hurting/causing pain to?

a) They don't have to tell me in so many words but it's the unmistakable presence of self-created denial i see in their eyes - sometimes masquerading as a false sense of hope - the existence of which i have indirectly caused.

and/or

b) In the midst of sorting things out, the denial in their eyes are being shattered and they begin to see the reality of the situation.

It kills me.
